American journalist Fredricka Whitfield has won millions of hearts around the world with her unique physique and presentation skills. At 6ft 2in tall, Whitfield has become one of CNN’s most popular news anchors. Before joining CNN, Fredricka was a correspondent for NBC News from 1995 to 2001.

Fredricka Whitfield was born on May 31, 1965 in Maryland, United States. Fredricka is African American; Her mother is from Nigeria. Fredricka Whitfield attended Paint Branch High School in Burtonsville, Maryland for her early education. She then enrolled at Howard University, where she earned a degree in journalism in 1987.
Whitfield launched her career right from her days in college. She started out as one of the news anchors on her school’s radio station, WHUR. After graduating, she worked for a number of local media organizations across the country, including WCIV in Charleston, South Carolina, WPLG-TV in Miami, WTNH in New Haven, Connecticut, KTVT-TV in Dallas, and News Channel 8 in Washington DC, among many others . In 1995, Fredricka got her first opportunity to work with one of the big leagues, NBC News. There she worked as a correspondent for the network’s Nightly News. She also served as a news reporter for other programs such as The Today Show .

After six years at NBC, FredrickaKam joined CNN in 2002. Although Whitfield wasn’t her first big media job, she made her name in television journalism history at CNN. Fredricka is one of the three children (two daughters and one son) of Malvin Greston Whitfield and his wife Nola. Her siblings are Malvin Whitfield Jr. a.o. Lonnie and Nyna Konishi.
As already indicated, Fredricka’s father, simply known as Mal Whitfield, was a popular athlete – a five-time Olympic champion. Mal Whitfield was the 800 meter race champion at the 1948 and 1952 Summer Olympics. He was also one of the members of the 1948 gold medal winning team in the 4 × 4 (100 m) racing relay. Mal also served as 2nd Lieutenant in the US Air Force at Tuskegee. He died on November 19, 2015 at the age of 91. On the other hand, Fredricka’s mother, Nola Whitfield, worked as a police officer. Nola is of African American descent; Her mother was Nigerian and her father was American.
In addition to her full siblings, Fredricka has a half-brother named Edward “Ed” Wright. Her father had Ed from an extramarital relationship with an American lady, Harriet Wright, in Kenya in 1986 while he was serving as a US Aide in East Africa. Ed is a recognized high jumper.

Fredricka and John have three children from their marriage.
