Jeremy Richman's six-year-old daughter Avielle was one of the 20 children that died in the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Connecticut. After dedicating his time to preventing mass shootings, CNN now sadly reports that Jeremy has died from an apparent suicide.
The publication details how Jeremy was found in his office building this morning, Monday, March 25th. The police "will not disclose the method or any other details" surrounding Jeremy's death other than it does not appear to be suspicious.
Jeremy's death is now the third recent suicide surrounding mass school shootings. Last week Parkland Shooting survivor Sydney Aiello took her own life and her mother detailed how she was suffering from PTSD and survivor's guilt since her best friend was killed. This past weekend, a 17-year-old Parkland sophomore (unnamed) also died from suicide.
"Stop saying “you’ll get over it," Parkland survivor David Hogg tweeted yesterday. "You don’t get over something that never should have happened because those that die from gun violence are stolen from us not naturally lost. Trauma and loss don’t just go away, you have to learn to live with it through getting support."
